In a city often regarded for what it used to do-namely manufacture steel by the ton-Pittsburgh's music scene hasn't always gotten the recognition it warrants.
In the last half-decade, however, things have changed.
Radio-friendly rap is now a primary musical export, with Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller at the helm.
"That's kind of been the new wave to the music scene, says Pittsburgh native Gregg Gillis, better known as Girl Talk.
"On the flipside, Louis Vuitton Men Bag an active underground of more experimental artists' Gillis adds, citing the VIA Music & New Media Festival that celebrated its second year this past October with headliners such as Four Tet and Battles performing alongside homegrown acts like Raw Blow and Smooth Tutors.
Camaraderie is at the core of the scene's latest evolution.
"A sort of got-your-back mentality has helped Pittsburgh artists, " says Andy Mulkerin, music editor at alt-weekly Pittsburgh City Paper Louis Vuitton Briefcase Replica drummer with soul-revivalist band Neighbours.
"There's a lot of unity, even among acts that don't sound alike' "The Pittsburgh music scene is where our band grew up, " says Donora singer/guitarist Casey Hanner.

The band, rounded out by bassist Jake Churton, released their second full length on Pittsburgh label Rostrum Records in September.
The appropriately lighthearted Boyfriends, Girlfriends, with its cheer-infused '50s girl-group vibe and sunny lyrics, ensures they won't be a Pittsburgh secret for long.
